Appraisal-People need real estate appraisals for a variety of reasons, refinancing a mortgage, settling an estate or divorce, determining market value for gifting purposes or just curious of the current market value. PMI, also known as Private Mortgage Insurance, is charged by your lender on any mortgage that is less than 80% of the value of the property. This charge can be eliminated by submitting a current appraisal of your home that demonstrates that you have more than 20% equity in the property. This can save you thousands in the long run.
